Sarah Ferguson has sparked fresh interest in royal history after sharing insights into the unique living arrangements of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
The Duchess of York recently reflected on the late Duke of Edinburgh's independent nature, offering a glimpse into one of the monarchy's most talked-about relationships.
According to Ferguson, Prince Philip valued having his own space and enjoyed pursuing his personal interests away from the spotlight. While the Queen and Prince Philip shared a marriage that lasted more than seven decades, their relationship was built on mutual respect and understanding rather than constant togetherness.
Royal observers have long noted that Philip often spent significant periods at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate, particularly after retiring from public duties in 2017. There, he enjoyed reading, painting, carriage driving, and spending time in a quieter environment. Ferguson suggested that this arrangement allowed him to maintain a sense of independence while continuing to support the Queen in his own way.
The Duchess emphasized that the couple's bond remained exceptionally strong despite not always living under the same roof. She described their relationship as one founded on trust, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for each other's individuality. Rather than seeing separate living arrangements as a sign of distance, Ferguson indicated that it was a practical choice that suited their personalities and responsibilities.
